Both my LJ and DW are so dusty. I haven't written anything in both journals in years. Still keep 'em active though. Just because.

What's new with me?

Let's see now, I turned 30 years old in 2016.
Living my life day in day out, but feeling like a zombie just wasting life away.

Nothing new in terms of relationship though.
Still the same old ボッチ女
Still horrible at taking care of myself
Still can't dress appropriately (attractively is probably forever a no-go for me)
Still living at my parents' place - since it's close to work

Speaking of work.. I just have no motivation anymore

It's not just that I have no motivation for this job.
I feel like I have no motivation for anything in life.
It's bad enough I hardly ever go out to meet friends or anything. Even in the weekends I would just rather laze around at home and not go outside. Completely okay just being inside...

I just don't want to do anything anymore...

Lately, I have become quite a fan of voice actors, or seiyuu. I have been consuming a lot of seiyuu-related radio shows & events too.

For the last... 2 years(?) or so, I have been following this particular web radio show (with actual video) from Chou A&G+ called "Yahagi ・Sakura no Chotto Ojikan Yoroshii desuka?", which basically means "Yahagi & Sakura's Do You Have Some Time?".

(Translating has never been one of my strong points, regardless the language. Despite having quite a plethora of Japanese vocabulary up my sleeve nowadays, translating is just not something I'm good at. But still, I think I got the translation for that right, though it needs some polishing)

So this radio show is hosted by two female voice actors, Yahagi Sayuri and Sakura Ayane. Both of them are from the same agency, with Yahagi being the senior of the pair. The selling point of the show is their 'high tension' senior-junior combination. The 'high tension' here being 'high spirited' instead of hostile. Anyway, in the show they're both known as Paisen & Ayaneru.

I'm not good at expressing my thoughts, even in writing, but this show is just fricking hilarious. I cannot tell you how fond I have become of these two lately. And today, Paisen made an announcement that she has gotten married! :D

In the show, they once had a corner called "Please Marry Me!". Basically, in this corner, listeners would send the show their proposals of marriage to her as Ni-na (Paisen's favorite character from Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side). To think that she would actually get married so soon! Congratulations, Paisen! Yet another Hayate cast who has gotten married lately. 挫けないで松来さん!

I have no idea when was the last time I updated my Livejournal and Dreamwidth accounts. Sometimes I make the posts either LJ only, or DW only, and so lose track pretty much most of the time.

And so in an effort to make both accounts somewhat active, here is the somewhat belated attempt, which hopefully will not simply end due to my laziness.

So to you who wandered here by some strange coincidence, hello!

And to you who have been around in my Friends List for some time, hey there!

I will try to be more active this year. I do admit that I have never been much of a blogger to begin with. And I pretty much do not use most of the social networking sites that pop up in abundance in recent years. I am aware it's there, I just can't be bothered to actually create an account to use them.

So as my baby step for being active here again, I am currently trying out new journal themes. Most of the LJ comms that I used to frequent for themes/style are now no longer updated (sadly), so if there are some good places where I can get customised CSS themes, do let me know. I am not a big fan of the ones LJ have. And if they can be applied to DW, that is a bonus. I still need to experiment a bit with DW's layout settings.

All the previous posts in this LJ will be kept under LOCK. I have no intention of making them public.

The upcoming posts may consist of Public posts mostly, though any personal ones will be Friends Locked.

Aug 20th, 2013.

I turned 27 today :)

Starting to feel old. Guess it's a given, eh? ^^'
mierin: (Default)
Time flies by very fast. Sometimes too fast for me to play catch up with it.

And today, I found out that both my Livejournal and Dreamwidth accounts have not been updated for more than a year. To be honest, I had wanted to update many times in the past. But all the hustle and bustle of working life (and me being lazy), resulted in my inability to post anything lately, even though I still lurk about my favourite fandoms.

So let's change that, and be more active at blogging from now on, I thought on a whim. How motivated am I to keep going at this, well... let's find out, eh?

So for a start, here's something I recently purchased:

My CD Purchases

Sakamoto Maaya's new album Singer-SongWriter and Kalafina's fourth album Consolation.

I found out about Maaya's album first before news of Kalafina's new album came out. And since they are both released only a week apart, I went ahead and pre-ordered them both from CDJapan, and have them shipped together to save shipping costs. Limited Edition with DVD version for Maaya, and the regular version for Kalafina. Since I made my purchase from CDJapan, Maaya's CD came with a special booklet with interview about the album as well.

My second CD purchase for both artists. I had already bought Kalafina's third album After Eden back in 2011, and Maaya's Single Collection + Mitsubachi last year (together with a book called Tsuki no Sango that comes with Maaya's roudoku CD). Apparently Maaya wrote and composed all the songs in this latest album, which I must say is quite a feat. I'm quite used to her lyric writing by now since she has done that for some time now, but acting as the composer and producer at the same time.... I'm very happy with the results. The songs have a very "Maaya" feel to them, honest and kind, and I'm really glad I bought this album.

When I decided to buy the LE version with DVD for Singer-SongWriter, it was quite a gamble. Because the DVD is Region 2, and I live in a Region 3 country. But I've heard that the Kalafina DVDs seem to be Region-less (or something like that), and I've never bought an LE version of any CD before, so I went ahead with it, hoping it might be the same. I definitely can't play it on the regular DVD player, and my computer will prompt me to change my Region to watch the documentary video (which is a no-go for me). Luckily, it turns out that I can in fact play a Region 2 DVD just fine using VLC Player. Now I just need to figure out how to rip the DVD :P

This turned out longer than I thought. I'll stop here for now, and update again when I feel like it. Soon, hopefully.

I suddenly found that I've been buying and buying books a lot lately, and haven't really read most of them yet. So I've decided to make a little list of the stuff that I am planning to read (soon hopefully :P)

And I might as well double it as my wishlist. Since I always forgot that I meant to buy some stuff.

I'll keep this updated and cross out the ones I've finished. I hope.

Wishlist... which can comprise of anything I have in mind )

mierin: (Lollies)
Yikes. It's been two months since my last update. How y'all been doing? Work's been kinda hectic for me. I don't even pop by LJ / DW much lately. So I humbly apologize for not very up-to-date with all of you *hugs*

Although that might change once I get over these two weeks. I'm currently taking a two-week intensive course on radiation protection at Nuklear Malaysia. So after the class is done, I'll get myself registered for the exam and hopefully (fingers crossed), I'll be able to obtain the certification to become a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO). I have a mixture of in awe + happy + freaking out that I'm taking such a qualification. I think it's a good career move, though. Especially since it's a professional qualification, and I think Malaysia is well on her way to have more nuclear based applications in the future, especially in medicine.

So anyway, here are all the other updates:
  • Kalafina's third album. I HAS IT. Haha... yeah, I think I recall posting that I'd be pre-ordering this CD. And that I certainly did. It just arrived today, so I'm still in the process of listening to the songs. Unfortunately, I'm still in training period (every day 8.30am - 5pm) so I don't have time to scan all the lovely pics from the booklet. If say.... by this weekend (?) or next week, I find nobody sharing the album over at jpop_uploads, I'll rip mine and post it there. I plan to scan the booklet anyway for my own keeping, so if I upload it, it will most definitely include the booklet scans.
  • Oh yeah, I got the First Press Bonus, so I got this mousepad. It's pretty, but it's kinda small  ><
  • Decided one day to randomly watch an episode of Natsume Yuujinchou San. And got hooked instantly XD And began a Natsume Yuujinchou marathon of the first 2 seasons. And bought Natsume Yuujinchou manga Vol 8 at Kinokuniya (haha... yes, I'm extreme). I have a penchant for this type of slice of life anime... even if it does involve youkai :P
  • Talking about extremes... I got hooked reading this manga called Black Bird. Finished reading whatever is scanlated, and I got hooked, bewitched, enchanted, mesmerized, and all the other similar meaning words you care to list from a thesaurus ----- to go download all the raw scans I could find of this manga. Found out I could only get until Vol 12 of the Japanese scans, so I went and bought Vol 13 and 14 (the latest) from Kinokuniya so that I can read the story. And yes, it's in Japanese. The Viz releases are only up to Vol 10. I can't wait so long for the official English version, so I bought the Japanese ones. I'm amazed at myself sometimes ><
  • Went to KLCC a few weeks ago, and managed to spend up to a few hundred ringgit on just books --- at Kinokuniya and Bookfest Malaysia (they were holding it at the Convention Centre there). Cheap books on sale. I just went @_@  oooh, what to choose, what to choose? And bought like, a bunch of stuff + manga. No idea when I'll finish this bunch XD

Uh, so sorry. Felt like in my absence of posts, I'm making it up with these incoherent updates. Anyway, I'll try to catch up with what everyone's up to :)

It's official. Year 2011 is about to become (for me) the year for attending friends' weddings.

should i be freaking out about my singleton status already? nah.. still too early for me XD

But really, last year there were lots of friends getting engaged, so this year the wedding invitations starts coming in. I've got a wedding to attend this weekend too. A dear friend from secondary school is getting married. I practically spent the whole Sunday at her house helping out with the wedding preparations. And got a shock at realizing how utterly clueless I am at trying to decorate all the hantaran and other stuff. Guess I'm just not creative enough for these sort of things.

I would really love to get her a lovely wedding gift, but so far I haven't been able to look around the shops much lately, and I have absolutely no idea what kind of gift I should get. Any thoughts? I'm not that stingy when giving presents, but I'd really like to get something the newlyweds could use.

And as it so happens, the wedding also coincided with the Bersih 2.0 rally -- demanding a free and fair election process, and they just have to choose the July 9 date for it :(

My friends and I are concerned that the rally might cause some roads to be closed, or roadblocks mounted at certain parts of the city by the police, or roads reduced to one lanes leading to the rally, or.... lots of other not very entertaining thoughts come to mind, really.  Some of my friends promised to be there early in the morning to help out. And I'll be there during the reception itself because I couldn't make it in the morning. But it's a huge concern for us in case we are left with limited choices of routes to get to the wedding. And I live quite far from the wedding venue.

Really, can't even get married and enjoy the merrymaking in peace >.<

It's been a long time since the previous update. I blame work and lack of motivation for the lack of updates u_u

So on to some news, both on the exciting and not so exciting part.

Sad news: Voice Actress Kawakami Tomoko passed away at the relatively young age of 41 after losing her battle against ovarian cancer. She was famous for her role as Utena in Revolutionary Girl Utena, which sadly, I have never watched before, but now I plan to. But I have always adored her as the voice of Misuzu (AIR), and as Rosette in Chrono Crusade. She has a recurring role in Bleach (as Soi Fon) too, so I guess they will have to find a replacement soon. Edit: Oops, wrong info. She only voiced Soi Fon until Ep 206, and after that it was voiced by Kuwashima Houko.

RIP Kawakami-san, you will be remembered of fondly :(

Good news 1: To take our minds off the depressing news above....

Kalafina 3rd album confirmed! :D
Nothing yet so far apart from it will be released sometime this autumn, but still... I'm seriously excited about this! There has only been only 2 singles so far -- Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa and Magia, but since it's been confirmed that Kajiura Yuki will be in charge of the music for Fate/Zero, is it too much to hope Kalafina will sing one of the theme songs?

Still, I'm stoked by this news. And you can bet I'll be pre-ordering it this time round XD

Good news 2: I'm going to Japan tomorrow! :D

Well, it's actually a (super duper) short vacation in Tokyo, really. I'll be going with my dad and sister. Mom and my brother will have to stay home cause they can't get any leave with their current schedule. We'll depart tomorrow (Tuesday) and we'll be back home on Friday. Short, right?

But then again, none of us could really be away from work for too long. But we still want to have our vacation, so we decided to just get on with it or we'll never get the chance to go there :P

I have no idea how much I'll be able to spend... I think I could pretty much guess how much are the stuff I want to buy -- like CDs and such. But seriously, converted some ringgit to yen here, and RM 1,500 = ~40,000 yen only? o_O

I wonder how much money I'll have left once I buy souvenirs for family and colleagues... *sigh* I'm going to be broke T-T

I'll most likely post some pics of the trip when I get back ^^

Dear Mierin,

Reading fanfics while there are more urgent things to do is not cool. Seriously girl, get your ass moving.

Yours sincerely,
Your concerned Self

. . . Is what I'd like to tell myself at the moment, but these fanfics are just NGGGHH so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I wanna read more XD

Okay, I don't read that much anyway, but somebody MAKE ME STOP!

*sigh* Can I have another extra day off, please?
mierin: (Books)

Ugh.. I wanted to go to the KL International Book Fair, but decided not to. My parents were having a spring cleaning of our front porch--basically cleaning up the floors that's gotten dirty with soil and moss using a high pressure water gun. Which is pretty awesome XD but it hurts if you accidentally sprayed yourself D:

But in a way, I'm kinda glad I didn't go, because it was raining heavily just now, which would suck because I would've gone by train, and not car. Do not like being soaked by rain.

My sister is finishing up her Master's degree thesis, and I'm helping her to proofread the draft, which I will get down to once I finish procrastinating on the web (lol). I'm not sure whether I want to continue my own studies. I definitely have an interest to do so, but I'm not sure which field of study I should go to. Apparently you need at least 2 years of working experience before you can apply for an MBA. And since I just graduated last year, it's a no go---for now.

And off to some not very pleasant fandom related news.

Tokyopop is shutting down their North American division

I'm too tired lazy to make a proper post.

So have a music spam from me instead XD

I have been watching Evangelion lately (can't believe it took me this long to watch this anime). I'm still in the midst of downloading a HUGE Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 file, but man, am I loving the soundtrack. Especially this one *___*

I can't wait for Evangelion 3.0 to be aired. Nuff said.

mierin: (Hatsune Miku singing)
Yup, just as the title suggests. My pre-ordered-more-than-a-month-ago Fiction II CD finally arrived from Japan this morning :D

I had it delivered to the office because there's noone home, in case of any issues with the package. But seems like everything's fine, so I'm glad. I was worried I might have to pay extra for VAT charges.

I'm so happy with this purchase. I've always wanted to buy my very own copy of the releases from Japanese artists that I like, but nowadays it seems like the music stores I go to mostly had an abundant of K-pop stuff, and the J-pop stuff that's available will comprise majorly of Hamasaki Ayumi (who I am not that fond of), and Utada Hikaru (who I love, so that's fine with me), and an assortment of random artists.

So I'm going to listen to the CD now, and probably post my thoughts on the CDs later. If I have the time to write them down :P
mierin: (dreaming sakura)
Whoa. The earthquake in Japan was really huge. An earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter Scale in a country already very well known for its earthquakes? Not good.

The tsunami scares the hell out of me! ;_;

I found out about it when I saw a friend's Facebook status. She's studying there, but due to come back home to Malaysia for good this end March. Thankfully, her university in Niigata is on the West side of Japan, so I think they should be fine. In terms of tsunami anyway. They still felt the quake.

Scary >.<

My prayers to all the Japanese people. Hopefully, there won't be too many casualties from this.

mierin: (Cat)
OMG multiple new chapters of Gakuen Babysitters?!

BRB enjoying the cute little kids XD

mierin: (something beautiful)

Happy Valentine's Day to those celebrating it! :)

I'm not sure what's the current price of flowers and chocolates currently, but I suppose the price for flowers especially, would probably be at least double the normal price range? I'm always surprised at how much flowers cost nowadays. Of course, it also depends on what other accessories/decorations you put in the bouquet, as well as shipping them off to the recipient if one requests to have it delivered instead of handing it yourself.

But still, I wish it were not simply a tactic by the proprieters to get us to spend more than we should.

And speaking of chocolates, I suddenly have a HUGE craving for some good quality chocolate. I wonder if there are any patisserie here in Kuala Lumpur that specializes in chocolates. Or a chocolatier, really. In Japan, I believe the ladies are the ones who give chocolates to the person they like. Or just simply giving out chocolates to acquaintances they are friendly with [the difference between honmei chocolates and giri chocolates, but let's not get too in depth about that... and yes, I have been watching too many animes and reading too much manga, couldn't you tell? :P  but it's a good learning material for my Japanese language studies! *is shot* XD]

Thanks to a certain series, I now have the crazy idea of going out to buy some good quality chocolate couverture, and make something special with it. Yeah, I wonder how much it would cost, and then I would have check what kind of ingredients are in it, in case there are some things that I can't eat. It's not like I care so much about celebrating Valentine's Day anyway. I just want to eat chocolates.

*sigh*

But it would be nice if I could get some really good and delicious cooking chocolate, so I can make chocolate pear pudding. Tomorrow is a public holiday here, afterall. Buy some canned pears and choco powder, get home and start making the pudding, melt the cooking chocolate and drizzle a really generous amount over the just baked pudding.....

*droooooool*

Is getting delusional. Time to go out for lunch.

It's so bloody awesome! I can't wait for the PV to come out! XD

Fail mixing by LisAni staff! Konno is playing the violin for the middle part, but can barely hear it.

mierin: (piano)

I am being very, very naughty indeed. Reading a PH fanfic and updating my journals while I'm supposed to work on the company website :P

A happy news, I passed my Trinity Grade 4 piano exam! *throws confetti*

I would have become a soulless lump of gloom and despair if I actually failed the exam. To be honest, I seriously had a lingering thought that I *might* (le gasp!) have failed it. But for some reason which will probably remain unknown to me, the lady examiner gave me unbelievably high marks for my exam pieces. So the breakdown for the exam:
  • Pieces: Unbelievably high marks for all of them, some of which I feel quite undeserved >.<

  • Exercises: Not bad, I guess? Although the first exercise was pretty much.... horrible, in my opinion. The rest are fine.

  • Sight Reading: My terrible, terrible weakness. Need I say more? Probably the only deserving score I got XD

  • Aural: Would have aced it - but answered wrongly for the interval. Perfect 4th became perfect 5th ._.
Did I miss anything? Pretty sure that's it. The last time I took a piano exam about... 3 years ago, I think? It was ABRSM Grade 2 exam. The examiner was pretty thorough and gave some really good comments about the whole exam in my marking sheet. Which I really appreciate - because you can tell which parts need more work. [Okay, I have some issues with this particular examiner because she said I answered wrongly for aural - which left me and my teacher feeling incredulous when we looked at the marking sheet. But I'll skip that whining.]

This time around though, there is hardly any comments. Whilst I am really glad I passed the exam, some constructive comments would be very much appreciated. But anyway, I passed. Maybe I should leave it at that, yes? :P
mierin: (dreaming sakura)
I'm supposed to be updating my dad's company website right now. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I'm working with my dad or the time being until I get a new job.

But for some reason, the site seems to be down, and I can't do anything to it at the moment. So I'm compiling the infos and putting them in my LJ instead. Set to Private, of course, because I need to use the HTML function to see how the basic design is gonna look like so I can't just paste it on to the site when it's back up and running.

Of course, I also have to contend with this headache and flu I'm having all of a sudden. As if being woken up every few hours last night isn't enough to add to my misery.

I'm going back home to lie down and probably sleep this off for a bit during lunch.
